Finally everything is working, the computers and blogger.com :)
The "Neighbours" cast Rocky horror show was FANTASTIC :) i am soooo glad I decided to go. I will never be able to see Neighbours with a straight face again, specially Dr. Karl Kennedy. Alan Fletcher (Karl) had the part of Brad and in the end he appeared on the stage in fishnet stockings, high heels, pink fluffy stuff on his arms and a bright RED g-string... Then he turned around, showed his butt cheaks and people just started to scream hysterically. I was laughing so hard that I could hardly breathe and the roof was about to go off the theater... I was amazed how well everyone sang but the programm said the Neighbours actors who could sing and perform were gathered specially for this charity show. Fantastic fantastic :)
Tuesday I spent 10 hours in Queenscliff working hard for the music festival, we put up a giant circus tent (huuuuge) and the morning after I was so stiff I could hardly move. But it was fun and I got a free pass for the whole weekend. So I will be off in few hours and will stay in Q'cliff the whole weekened enjoying celtic-, folk-, rock-, blues-, jazz and groove music untill I drop. The main reason Im going is ofcourse my favourite Xavier Rudd who will be performing twice tonight... I cannot waiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiit... Its 32 degrees outside now, will be 34 tomorrow so its gonna be very very naaaaiiiiiise :) And a lovely beach just around the corner...

I went yesterday with Kate to see Bridget Jones diary, the edge of reason. I read the books years ago and really enjoyed them and the first film. I knew they had changed the story to fit Hugh Grant better in it so I was prepared and I had a great time :) Its not as hillarious as the first film and one strange thing was that the Rachel character was completetly different... wonts say too much since it has not started in Iceland...
Well tomorrow Im up for a big treat, Im going to see Rocky Horror in the theatre, with the tatataaaaaaaaaaaa: NEIGHBOURS cast :) So Harold is going to be there and Stuart, Izzy, Sindi and even Flick (Holly Valance - NOT a huge fan by the way)... I dont know who is playing Dr. Frank-N-Furter... Harold ??? :) hehehehe..

I have been reading the seven books (chronicles) on Narnia by CS Lewis and just finished the last one this morning. I read them all probably 15 years ago but its amazing how much I had forgotten. Now I can step back to the real world and hopefully will be able to concentrate a bit better :o)

The consert was absolutely fantastic, I had a great time :) Took the train to Melbourne in great weather but when the consert was finished it was pouring rain. We had to walk a bit to get to the car and I was actually glad I had a dress on since pants would have gone soaking wet in 2 seconds. I stayed one night at Fred and Judys place and then they dropped me off in Geelong on their way to Queenscliff.
Yesterday was the final episode of Sex and the city and I cried for the last 15 minutes, happy since they got a happy ending but sad because it was the last episode... What am I going to do on Monday nights from now on? Sound a bit vain I know but it is my favourite show... (Cedric: think ER !!!!) :)
The weather is getting better now, its been raining almost constantly all November, the wettest November in years so they say. But today its 22 degrees and no rain and tomorrow its gonna be 32 DEGREES, yeiiii, I think I might have to go to the beach :) Thats the best thing about not living in Melbourne, I can drive for 15 minutes and find a great non-crowded beautiful beach :)

I cannot wait for tonight. Am going with Fred and Judy to a Sinfony concert in the Concert Hall in Melbourne !!! I have been to quite many conserts since I came here but this will be the first classical one. It feels strange not to have classical music around me and I have missed it. They will play Berlioz (Roman Carnival), Mozart (Piano concert 25 in C major) and last but not least Stravinski (Petrushka). Its gonna be great !!!!
Im all alone in the house now since Kylie and Ellen are in Perth for a conference. So two weeks alone which I will hopefully use well and get a lot of work done. It might be a bit difficult since I found one computer here that I can get on msn messenger. They all have firewalls, thats why I have not been able to use msn for the last 10 months. But now im ON but only in the morning (evening European time) :) Have a good weekend and enjoy the snow in Iceland...

I just spent the last 3 hours washing 200 traps... I am soooo glad this week is finished even though I have spent a lot of time with my gorgeous animals. I woke up this morning to pick up the traps and it was absolutely pouring rain. Poor Kate came with me and we spent the whole morning wet in the field. I was very happy though because I got three new juveniles, two of them which I had toe clipped. Im trying to forget about the dead one yesterday but it keeps coming back to my mind. Its now in the freezer and perhaps it will be stuffed later. Now I am looking forward to a relaxing weekend, I think I owe it to my poor back... Have a good weekend :)

Very happy to hear about the vulcanic eruption in Grímsvötn in Iceland, it was even on the news here yesterday :) Too bad the eruption is not a bit closer to the bloodie hydropower station they are building on the highlands. That would show our greedy government how STUPID it is to put a monstrous hydropower plant right on the biggest fault of Iceland, one of the most active area in the world. Well, we are not the only nation which votes for a stupid government. First prime minister John Howard (who?? you might think) was voted again in Australia few weeks ago (he supported the war in Iraq) and now Bush and Cheney... God/Thor/gods/Buddha/Allah/??? help us all...

My worst nightmare happened this morning. An animal was dead in one of the traps... :( :( :( :( And a very important animal, one of my toe clipped juveniles. I was sooo sad and still feel terrible. This is the first time it happens to me and everyone has been very supportive, this is not very uncommon though because the animals can get stressed and cold in the traps. This little guy only weighed 15 grams and was neither cold or wet, so it was probably stress that killed him. Baaaaahhhhh :-(
But then we got another juvenile and it was soooo cute and Im happy to know that they are around :) Hopefully I will get more tomorrow.

A love story happened before our eyes when me and Kate went to the field today. There was a male Superb Fairy Wren in one of the traps and the poor thing flew happily away after we had taken some photos. Then we found a female in another trap and when she started to squeak we heard the male calling her and saw him few meters away. She flew straight to him and they seemed to have a lot to talk about :) And they lived happily ever after...

What a tiring and exhausting week this has been... and its only wednesday !!! I put 100 traps up on Saturday and the rest on Monday. Sounds easy enough but Monday turned out to be crazy, first moving part of our lab and then I went in the field in the afternoon. Putting 100 traps up on my own and baiting the rest took me almost 4 hours and I managed to proof Murphy's law. Everything that could possibly go wrong went wrong. I was dead tired already after moving all day and it was hot as hell. The flies were abosolutely eating me alive and I could not wave them away because I was holding traps and stuff. I lost two lines because I did them other way around and could not find the pink flagging tapes and had to walk for ages to find them. I forgot one line and had to go back to it. One trap broke and when I had fixed it the pin got lost that holds it together. I think I screamed twice and almost started to cry when I was desperately trying to find the bloodie pin. The weather was beautiful but I could not enjoy the views because I was so tired and depressed. Finally got home and I could not take a shower straight away because my legs were trembling too much and I thought I might fall :) THEN on tuesday morning I overslept and had Ilona, Kate and Kate's sister waiting for me, a complete panic !!! We did not get many animals and no babies... A big shock, at first I thought I had killed them all but when I checked the literature I realized that they might still be in the mums nest... So Im not too worried now... When I got to work after checking the traps we had to move my supervisors office stuff up two levels. Shes got soooo much stuff and I was just dead after that day. Im not feeling too bad today, my back is not hurting, which is a miracle, and I did stretches so Im not too stiff. I cannot wait untill this week is over...
