I had good days in Perth, stayed with Blair, went to the beach, met up with Darren, saw Chicago and watched kricket and some australian footie, hmmm. But now I find myself back in Brisbane :) My cousin Stella picked me up at the airport at dawn (thank you !!!!!) and I will spend my last days here. Today I met up with Anne Marie and she had a surprise for me, DEBBIE :o) So it was fantastic to meet them and catch up. (For those who are confused and dont know AM an D, they are two of my friends here, which I traveled with from Cairns to Perth, and met again in Perth and then Sydney, and now here in Brisbane... getting a bit confusing I know). Tommorrow Im going to Lamington National Park, more about that later .......

I forgot to mention all the sharks I saw in Shark Bay... the name of the bay is not just a name ;) I saw at least one big tiger shark and loads of black tip sharks. They were swimming around the dolpins and we even saw a battle from the little research boat we were in.
Now I have few days in Perth to relax and enjoy the good weather ;)

Two weeks have passed way too fast since I last wrote. Shark Bay is an amazing place and being back to Perth makes me very sad. The first week I spent volunteering in Monkey Mia, working with the dolphins there. I also went with researchers on a small boat following one of the beach dolpins and I witnessed a big dolpin soup, I have never seen as many dolpins together before, and so close to our boat. I also took a tour on a Catamaran and saw lots of dugongs, sea snakes and turtles. The second week I was helping Kathy trapping small animals in the Peron national park. We put up nets and small traps and checked them every day. Among the animals we trapped were: hopping mice, sandy inland mice, dragons, geckos, banded snakes, sand swimmers, skinks, etc. The higlight of my trip was when we spotted an ECHIDNA !!!!!!! YEEESSSS, fiiiinally I saw one. I have been looking for it since I came to Australia 5 months ago. It was so cute, just walking over the dirt road and as soon as we touched it, it curled up and refused to talk to us. Poor thing ;) I couldnt stop smiling for the rest of the day. One of my jobs in Shark Bay was to look after little Bobbie, which is an injured Bobtailed lizard (a girl), feed her and walk her. Absolutely adorable!!! When she was found she was skinny as paper and had an injured leg, now she is fat and her leg is better ;) She is the same species as old Bob which lives near the caravan and was my favourite when I was last time in Shark Bay. But there was no sign of Old Bob for a week and a half and I was getting seriously worried that he had slipped over to BobHeaven. Thankfully he showed up at last and ate loads of tomatos ;) I am already missing my Bobs awfully much.

I am now in Perth, in the good old internet cafe beside GLOBE hostel !!! good sweet memories from this place ;) My last day in Sydney was great, me Anne Marie and Debbie did the coastal walk between Coogee and Bondi beach and it is definately the most beautiful place in Sydney ;) We tried to see the ghost of Virgin Mary, which is an unexplained phenomena on a fence, but we didnt see her even though we were there on the right time, I guess we werent on the right spot... or she didnt want me to see her because I am not religious... hmmmm... anyway ;) It was lovely stepping out of the airplane in Perth into 35`C.. ahhhhh, Sydney was a bit too cold for me ;) Catching the bus soon to Shark Bay so Im off now to enjoy the last hours in lovely Perth ;)

I spent 3 great days with my norwegian friend Bente in Newcastle, great to catch up with her ;) We were working together years ago in Iceland and now she is studying here for 2 years. Then I took the bus to Sydney where Anna picked me up and I stay with her, Greg and the kids untill tomorrow. Yesterday I met Debbie and Anne Marie and we walked around Sydney and did a LOT of talking ;) I havn't seen them since Perth. Then suddenly I saw my old roomates since Airlie Beach, Jamie, Karen and Snowy and we had a great time catching up. What a coincidence bumping into them in a big city like Sydney... Today I will meet Deb and Anne Marie again and we are going to walk around Bondi. Unfortunately our darling Seamus left to Tailand before I got to Sydney. We MISS YOU !!!
Tomorrow I am flying back to Perth, hopefully seeing Darren there for few hours and then taking the bus up to Shark Bay to see Blair, the dolpins and the cutest wallabys in Australia ;) My goal will be to finally see an Echidna and a Thorny Devil. I will be there for 3 weeks volunteering in Monkey Mia. Then I am flying to Brisbane, spend few days there and then coming back to Iceland (4th of April) !!!! So I am expecting a great welcoming party hehe !!!
