New Scottish Highland pics here :)

Still having a wonderful time, seeing new animals like the Grey seals and the spectacular Golden Eagle. Ive spent the last 2 days in the west and north coasts of Scotland, such beautiful areas and its been sunny and nice :) We are now putting up mink rafts everywhere and those are a clever design that makes it possible to get footprints of animals that come and check out the rafts. I will go next week to check them, cant wait :)

The lass who fell in the bog

Yebb thats me, Im a genius :) I fell in the bog (svamp) and got my wellies (rubber boots) wet on the inside!!!! It all happened in slow motion and just to top things I grabbed Andy my fellow field worker with me and got him all wet as well haha. Not laughing so hard when I crawled in the shower shivering from being wet half the day...

Ive seen: poo and more poo: otter poo, mink poo, fox poo, stoat poo, pine marten poo and lots of sheep and bird poo. Thankfully Ive also seen voles, stoat, sika deer, red deer, golden plovers (yayyy) and lots more that I cant remember right now because I am sooooo tired...
Oh yes and I saved a newt :) It was lying on the road motionless and cold and I brought it back to life, what a wonderful feeling :)

Im not camping yet, Ive been staying in Alladale and will be here the next week and then who knows what will happen ;) Will keep you posted.

Ice-queen Rannveig?

It was absolutely FREEEZING in the house last nigth, I had all my warm clothes on and thought I would catch a cold. It reminded me of the cold Aussie winter I experienced and I have to say I have never been colder in my life for those 3 months. And YES I am Icelandic but we have proper warm houses thank you very much ;) Not wood put together in some manner without insulation and single glass in windows like most houses in England seem to be.
When I woke up this morning (see picture) there was snow everywhere. And I am going camping in Scotland !!!!!!!!! Does not sound very appealing at the moment :s

So the question remains: Did I bring the snow with me from Iceland? :) Am I the uncrowned Ice-queen or what? LOL

Im loving Oxford, both the city and the people :) Ive been here for 2 days and I have already been to an Argentinian/Mexican birthdayparty where there was singing and dancing, Ive been to a concert with Stornoway, which are by the way fantastic, Ive been in the field looking for mink and otter scats and tracs and Ive been introduced to the WildCRU people in Tubney house where I will be based in the next few years.
Monday I am flying to Inverness, north of Scotland, and will be there surveying mink until end of May :) Can't wait :)
